Water-Resistant Work Gloves Made to Last

Water-resistant work gloves from Wells Lamont are designed to shed moisture from their outer surfaces instead of absorbing it into the glove and becoming waterlogged. The water-resistance property comes from treated fabrics, specialized coatings, or special steps during the leather tanning process. Light rain, splashes, or damp conditions bead up and roll off water-resistant gloves instead of soaking through to the wearer’s skin. The protection differs from waterproof construction, because water resistance mitigates moisture exposure but won’t keep hands dry during full submersion or extended contact with standing water.

Wells Lamont’s HydraHyde® leather treatment creates water-resistant gloves that maintain leather’s natural flexibility and breathability while repelling water. The treatment penetrates the leather fibers rather than just coating the surface, so it doesn’t wear off as quickly as spray-on water repellents. This specialized design lets leather gloves handle wet lumber, damp masonry, and rainy conditions without turning stiff or losing their grip. Synthetic shell materials with DWR (durable water repellent) finishes provide another approach to moisture protection.
